I plan to conduct a case-control study in women of Arab ancestry to investigate the phenotypic profile, symptomatology, co-morbidities and risk factors for endometriosis. In addition, I will conduct a candidate gene association study for endometriosis to explore to what extent genetic variants implicated in robust genome-wide association studies of women of European ancestry are replicated in women of Arab ancestry. The proposed study will be the first to systematically collect population health data on endometriosis in the Middle East, a region for which public health issues in gynaecological diseases have been unexplored to date, and the first to analyze candidate genetic markers associated to endometriosis in women of Arab ancestry.

I have collaborated and received funding from multiple institutions across the UAE, including the Sheikh Saud Al Qasimi Research Foundation, UAE University and Khalifa University, achieved a Summa Cum Laude from my Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science at the University of Central Florida, USA, and a Distinction for my Master’s degree in Prenatal Genetics and Fetal Medicine, University College London.
