Tom Tipton
I am an immunologist and MRC Career Development Award holder at the University of Oxford, based within the High Consequence Pathogens Group at the Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics. My research focuses on host–pathogen interactions and long-term antiviral immunity, with particular expertise in Ebolavirus, Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever virus and SARS-CoV-2.
My award supports an independent research programme investigating the long-term immune response following Ebolavirus infection. Using a unique longitudinal biobank my research aims to understand how antibody, B-cell and T-cell responses are maintained over many years and whether persistent viral antigen contributes to ongoing immune stimulation. I also contributes to vaccine and clinical research programmes and supervises postgraduate and research staff.
