BSc (Hons), PhD
Postdoctoral Researcher
I completed my undergraduate degree in Animal Science at the University of Nottingham. Following this completed a dual award PhD in Molecular Nutrition from the University of Adelaide and the University of Nottingham. The main focus of this research was to investigate how the ratio of omega-3 and omega-6 in the maternal diet impacted offspring risk of obesity and adverse cardiovascular outcomes.
Currently I am working as a postdoctoral researcher in the Cardiovascular Medicine Department within the Douglas group. This 3-year BHF project aims to elucidate the role of the novel CAD risk gene JCAD. With a focus on endothelial cell biology this project utilises genetically engineered mouse models as well as cell-based approaches to identify the role of JCAD in both physiological and pathological responses of the endothelium to shear stress.
