Before pursuing my MSc, I was an undergraduate research assistant, concentrating on the development of innovative chromatography methods for the identification of protein modifications. Following the completion of my MSc program, I am a DPhil student, and my research is about studying the behaviour of AML mutant hematopoietic stem cells, utilizing in vivo barcoding techniques.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THE MSC IN GENOMIC MEDICINE AT OXFORD?

I chose to pursue an MSc in Genomic Medicine at Oxford University because of my interest in human genetics and its role in understanding diseases. Additionally, I am fascinated by the extensive resources available through the Welcome Centre to support my studies.

WHAT WERE THE HIGHLIGHTS OF THE MSC IN GENOMIC MEDICINE FOR YOU?

Each week we have a tutorial that allows us to discuss and apply the knowledge that we learned in our previous lectures. MSc in Genomic Medicine also provides a lot of opportunities for us to attend seminar to stay updated on current research

WHICH SPECIFIC ADVANCED ELECTIVE MODULES DID YOU CHOOSE, AND WHY?

I chose Genomics in Clinical Practice, because I am interested in the integration of genetics into the clinical setting.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR MSC RESEARCH PROJECT AND HOW IT CONTRIBUTED TO YOUR UNDERSTANDING OF GENOMICS AND RESEARCH SKILLS.

My research project was focusing on investigating the abundance of mitochondria in a cohort of melanoma patients. We aimed to explored whether factors such as age, sex, BMI, or other factors play a role in influencing mitochondrial abundance in cancer patients. This project has provided me with the opportunity to enhance my data collection and analysis skills

HOW DO YOU ENVISION THE MSC IN GENOMIC MEDICINE BENEFITING YOUR FUTURE CAREER OR ACADEMIC PURSUITS?

MSc in Genomic Medicine boosted my confidence for my future career as a researcher and also provided me with a wealth of resources to connect with fellow researchers at Oxford

IF YOU COULD OFFER ADVICE TO PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS CONSIDERING THE MSC IN GENOMIC MEDICINE AT OXFORD, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

I would suggest that students should explore various opportunities available to them, such as attending seminars, engaging in conversations with researchers in their field, and attend training sessions provided by Oxford and the MSc course.
