Course Director
Julian Knight
Julian Knight directs the Genomic Medicine and Statistics DPhil course and is Professor of Genomic Medicine at University of Oxford. He is Deputy Director of, and leads a research group at the Centre for Human Genetics focused on the genetic basis of infectious, inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. He is also an Honorary Consultant Physician at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust.
Course co-director
Ira Milosevic
Ira Milosevic is a Principal Investigator at the Centre for Human Genetics, where her group works to investigate fundamental aspects of exocytosis, endocytosis and synaptic vesicle recycling that have relevance to neuronal and brain functions, using mouse and mammalian cells as model systems. She has previously held positions at the Yale University School of Medicine and at the European Neuroscience Institute in Göttingen. She currently holds a John Black Fellowship in Parkinson's Disease.
"This DPhil programme is one of the most important activities of the Centre for Human Genetics. We are training and nurturing the next generation of data scientists who really appreciate that sometimes data can be messy and results confounded, requiring intensive QC and assessments of reproducibility"
John Todd, Professor of Precision Medicine
“GMS students are the future of genomic medicine. You will be part of an amazing cohort who are doing some of the most exciting research across the University. Our students come from an incredibly diverse range of academic fields which is a real strength of the programme. If you have a passion for delivering on the potential of genomics in human health we would love to hear from you”
