Viktor Zouboulis
I’m a German-Greek medical student and researcher based at the Centre for Human Genetics (CHG), University of Oxford, where I am part of Holm Uhlig’s group. I am also affiliated with the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE).
My work focuses on computational immunology, where I use knowledge graphs, machine learning, and patient data to uncover patterns in complex datasets and improve the understanding and classification of inborn errors of immunity and inflammatory diseases such as IBD. I’m particularly fascinated by finding meaningful structure in large-scale biomedical data and translating those insights into clinically useful applications.
In parallel, I develop Oxford Nanopore sequencing pipelines and computational tools designed to bridge the gap between research and clinical practice, aiming to make data-driven insights directly actionable in patient care.
Before joining Oxford, I worked on research in Hidradenitis suppurativa and keloid treatment through intralesional cryotherapy, as well as studying cell interactions between adipose tissue and lipid-associated macrophages with the Adlung Lab. I remain interested in how technology can advance surgery and medicine.
Outside the lab, I’m an enthusiastic sailor, competing for the University team and having successfully completed races such as the Fastnet. I also lead the KAS scholarship holder group in Oxford and serve on the committee of the Oxford German Society as Alumni Officer.
I’m always open to new collaborations and discussions - feel free to reach out, and we can continue the conversation over coffee, in a pub, or a session of table tennis.
