Tiphaine Bouriez-Jones

NDM Health and Safety Manager

  • Provide proactive and professional advice on Health and Safety policies and procedures across the NDM Units.
  • Undertake scheduled visits to relevant buildings and laboratories to monitor compliance with health and safety legislation and University/departmental policies.
  • Discuss areas for improvement with relevant professional services and academic staff and/or external bodies and agree appropriate corrective action.

I have been in the University since 2002, starting at the bench as a research assistant and progressing to become a laboratory manager in 2007. My background at the bench means that I am always looking for practical solutions to ensure the continuity of research within safe working practices.

I joined the Centre in 2022 as Health and Safety Manager, having completed my NEBOSH certificate in 2009, I have been a safety practitioner in various roles across the Medical Science Division since 2014.

I am now based in the NDM Health and Safety team, working proactively with MSD Divisional Safety Officers, NDM Departmental Safety Officers, laboratory managers, building managers and other key staff across NDM to ensure consistency of Health and Safety policies and procedures across all NDM Units.  I undertake scheduled visits to relevant buildings and laboratories to monitor compliance with health and safety legislation and University/departmental policies, reporting back to local Departmental Safety Advisory Committees as well as NDM Health and Safety Sub-Committee, where areas for improvement are discussed and appropriate corrective action agreed upon

Within the Safety team, I am the first point of contact for the Units based in the Henri Wellcome Buildings (now known as CHG) and Experimental Medicine Units based at the John Radcliffe Hospital.
