The Centre actively promotes equality of opportunity for men and women. To encourage more women to aim for senior posts, successful women scientists are regularly invited to speak about their careers and advise young women working here. In 2017 the Nuffield Department of Medicine was awarded a renewed Athena Swan Silver award, recognising good practice in recruiting, retaining and promoting women in science, technology, and medicine.
