Lara Borkotoky

Research Assistant

Lara is a Research Assistant in the Lang Group. She is using Parkinson's patient-derived iPSCs to differentiate into astrocytes and neurons, analyzing the extracellular vesicles exchanged between them.

Lara holds a Master's degree in Neuroscience from UCL (University College London), where her research project at The Crick investigated a novel Ca2+ channel inhibitor using mouse brain slice electrophysiology and iPSC-derived neurons. She also completed her BSc in Biomedical Science from the University of Sheffield.

Her research interests lie in exploring the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative diseases, while also being passionate about ion channels, biophysics, and women's health research.
