Theo Rich
DPhil Student in Cancer Science
I am a DPhil student working under the supervision of Professors David Church and Tim Elliot. My research is focused on immune escape in mismatch repair-deficient (MMRd) colorectal and endometrial cancer, specifically looking at the pathway involved in presentation of defective ribosomal products (DRiPs) which we have found to be recurrently mutated in these patients. I aim to investigate how these mutations affect MMRd tumour growth, the immunopeptidome, immune infiltration, and sensitivity to immune checkpoint inhibitors – a promising new treatment for cancers with a high mutation burden, though their efficacy remains difficult to predict.
I previously completed my intercalated BA in Medical Sciences also at Oxford, where I undertook a research project in the Moon Lab on the role of the transcription factor MAFF in ferroptosis, using an MDA-MB-231 (breast) xenograft mouse model.
My current research is supported by Cancer Research UK.
