David Church received a Senior Cancer Research Fellowship from the Cancer Research UK Research Careers Committee to study MHC-I and MHC-II dysregulation in colorectal & endometrial cancer.

The Senior Cancer Research Fellowship is a Cancer Research UK scheme that supports group leaders in further developing their own research programme and building their reputation as world-leaders in their cancer research fields.

Dr David Church, Principal Investigator at the Centre for Human Genetics, has been awarded this fellowship. This prestigious recognition will provide funding for the next six years, enabling David and his team to delve deeper into the mechanisms of immune escape in colorectal and endometrial cancers.

The Church group studies mechanisms of tumorigenesis and tumour suppression in colorectal and endometrial cancer. focusing on the interaction between the tumour (epi)genome and host immune response, particularly in highly mutated tumours. Their aim is to identify new biomarkers and therapeutic targets we can use to improve treatment of these common diseases.
