Laila Latifi
DPhil Student in Cancer Science
I am a DPhil student working under the supervision Dr. David Church and Prof. Simon Leedham. My current research focuses on identifying precancerous neoantigen targets to formulate a prophylactic vaccine for microsatellite stable colorectal cancer. Additionally, I am particularly interested in studying the immune microenvironment of colorectal cancer and how it may be modulated by vaccination.
Previously, I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Virginia, where I authored a thesis on generating novel genetic tools to study the fundamental mechanisms of cell signalling. Subsequently, I pursued a post-baccalaureate fellowship at the Neuro-Oncology Branch of the National Cancer Institute, USA. Shifting my focus to immunotherapies, I contributed to research on the use of a viral vector vaccination strategy for glioblastoma treatment in murine models.
My present research is supported by the Oxford-Kidani Memorial Trust and Cancer Research UK.
